Electrical-Electronics Engineering is at an important crossroads. Technologies to produce information and translate the information produced into different forms have become the focal point of the modern world and these technologies have substantial implications on the modern information and communication industries as well as fundamental sciences and biology. OzU Electrical-Electronics Engineering promotes interdisciplinary research. Research projects that will shape everyday life with their potential outputs are jointly conducted with the Computer Science, Mechanical, and Industrial Engineering as well as the Business Administration programs. The goal of our Graduate Programs (MSc and PhD) in Civil Engineering at Özyeğin University is to provide students the abilities of producing high-level knowledge, conducting independent research and practice. The advanced engineering applications and scientific research can only be conducted with a successful graduate program. Through the process of MSc And PhD programs, the students are vested with an in-depth education and research opportunities that cannot be obtained during an undergraduate program. These high-level programs can also provide a broad perspective to students regarding the engineering field applications and research in engineering science.
The Master of Science Program in Mathematics aims (i) to improve the knowledge and skills of the undergraduate graduates considering an academic future and to promote their active participation in original mathematics research, (ii) to provide advanced mathematics skills to the mathematicians who want to work in fields such as informatics, banking, finance, insurance, data science or in research centers of industrial institutions, (iii) to give an option to the engineers who want to improve their mathematics skills and to gain a broad perspective on the engineering applications of mathematics.
The importance given to fundamental sciences and mathematics areas has come into prominence should we analyze the most advanced and prosperous countries of the world in terms of technology. The education starting with the encouragement towards those areas during primary school years continues with the importance those countries give to graduate and Ph.D. programs. Besides, as is known to all, those leading countries in technology and engineering have been granted nearly all of the Nobel Prizes in Physics.
In recent years, we have witnessed a rapidly rising interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and related technologies. AI is expected to cause significant socio-economic and scientific changes in the short term. One of these changes is the replacement of low-skilled workforce with AI and automation, which in turn increases the need for more employees equipped with AI skills. The purpose of our AI Master's Program is to address this need by training engineers and scientists of the approaching AI era. Besides pursuing academic careers, graduates of this program are also expected to take entrepreneurial steps to establish AI companies that can develop products with high added-value.
